This short story is written in two new characters' points of view: [[Ashe]] and Lyrisa. Ashe owns a keel and he would collect paying passengers to take them across the waters. One day he takes on a [[Silver]] princess and a small [[Red]] family with two women and a boy and a girl. At first, everyone is wary of a powerful rich Silver, but they, later on, loosen up around her. Lyrisa says that she is a princess and that she is currently running away from her betrothed, Orris Cygnet. She needs to be taken to the Gates across the Lakelands to seek shelter. She speaks of his horrible temper and his bad drunken habits. She claims that he is hungry for revenge and he will do anything to stop her and take her back. When the night falls, she and Ashe are talking when all of a sudden the calm waters start to 'erupt' and take away the innocent young little boy and start to drown him. Lyrisa is confident that this is, in fact, Orris' work. Lyrisa jumps in to save the boy, revealing that she is, in fact, a [[Strongarm]], and she rescues him back to his family. Ashe is furious that she didn't tell him sooner and he pushes her away emotionally. When they reach near land and it is nearly Lyrisa's stop, they detect someone coming from the woods in front and it is, in fact, Orris and his other friends. Ahead of time, Ashe and his crew already have a plan but they only told Lyrisa a small portion of it. Part of the plan is Ashe holding Lyrisa at gunpoint and to see if Orris Cygnet is persuadable. When Orris Cygnet comes, Ashe bargains with him, then tries to shoot him with the gun, but it jams. The keel then blows up.

Plot

Queen Song

This novella was already published back in 2015.

This story is written in Coriane Jacos' point of view. It starts when Coriane is opening birthday presents from family members and receives a diary from Julian along with some candy and dresses. She uses the diary often to write about what her life is like not being very wealthy like the other High Houses. She begins to use the diary less often and covers the page in black ink if someone died. She did that for her uncle, her cousin Jessamine, and later on when she gets married to Tiberias Vl, her 3 miscarriages. At a royal dinner, before she is queen, she meets Elara Merandus as Elara is complaining about Queen Anabel. Elara than uses her Whisper abilities to hear Coriane's thoughts and drives Coriane away out to the gardens. She then meets Tiberias Vl, who she later calls Tibe as they become closer friends. Tibe then decides he won't do Queenstrail and marries Coriane instead. Coriane later has Cal and takes care of him. The book ends when Elara gets jealous of Coriane's crown and kills her.

Steel Scars

This story is from Diana Farley's point of view as she gets her own mission in the Scarlet Guard instead of doing one with Colonel Farley. Farley and her team go into Corvium to gather information about Norta and meet Shade Barrow to help her. The Colonel keeps trying to contact Farley and her team saying that they have to leave but they ignore him because they think what they are doing is valuable information to their cause.
